You, as Rocky Ridge Alumni are a source of pride for the Center. We're always interested in alumni accomplishments and stories, and hope you'll keep us informed. We find that there are many "multi-generational" Rocky Ridge Families where children follow in their parents' footsteps and attend the Center. If you do not currently receive our newsletters (both email and snail-mail), please contact the office with your information at 970-586-4031 or by email. Please feel free to drop in for a visit whenever in the Estes Park area.
Rocky Ridge Alumni Naegeli von Bergen Metcalf
has been named Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) 2006 Teacher of the Year.
Born in York, Nebraska, Naegeli Metcalf began piano lessons at the age of seven with Mrs. Glen George for $.50 a lesson. She moved to Lincoln at age nine and studied with Ethel Owen until age eleven, when she began studying with Margaret McGregor, (now deceased) Mrs. McGregor taught at the Beth Miller School of Piano and at age thirteen Beth Miller and Margaret McGregor decided Naegeli should attend Rocky Ridge Music Center near Estes Park, Colorado. This was the first of thirteen summers she spent at the camp. As an older camper, Naegeli taught piano, theory and was a chamber music coach.
